In the 1990s, Bandai revolutionized the virtual pet market with the legendary Tamagotchi. The unprecedented success of this tiny device led to a multitude of copies and many, many virtual pet games for smartphones. One of the most successful ones was Pou.
Pou is a kind of alien that kinds of looks like excrement that always requires our attention to eat, clean itself, and play. In short, our mission is to take care of Pou and make it happy.
The problem arises when you have become attached to your pet and you have to change your smartphone. How can you continue to care for Pou if digital circumstances separate you? We tell you how to get your pet back should you need to.
How to recover Pou if you change your smartphone
Creating an account is key to recovering Pou if you have changed your smartphone. Therefore, restoring the game requires a bit of foresight from the player, as you can play with this virtual pet without creating an account.
How to link Pou to your email so you can recover it later
Do you want to continue playing with your Pou on another smartphone? Then, follow these steps:
- Open the Pou game on your smartphone.
- Tap your pet's level icon to open the settings menu.
- Within the settings menu, tap the Account button.
- Enter the email address you will link to your account.
- Tap on Accept.
- Confirm your email address and enter the alphanumeric one-time password.
- Enter a password.
- Choose a nickname and tap on OK.
Now, you can restore your game on any device because your Pou account will be linked to your email address. The only downside is that you must follow the above process before you change your smartphone. If your phone has been lost, stolen, or damaged, you won't be able to do much.
How to restore your Pou using your email address
Once you have completed the previous step, nothing will separate you from your virtual pet. To recover Pou using your email address, do this:
- Open the Pou game on your smartphone.
- Tap your pet's level icon to open the settings menu.
- Tap the Account button.
- Enter your email address and password.
As we already pointed out, if you have not previously linked your email with your Pou account, you will have lost your virtual pet. However, you can always start over with another Pou. So, remember to create an account with your email address to never lose your virtual pet again.
