In Minecraft, there are a large number of enchantments and some of them are even designed for certain weapons. This is the case with the impaling enchantment, an enchantment designed exclusively to be applied to a Trident.
What is the impaling enchantment
The impaling enchantment is a spell that significantly improves the attack of the Trident. This can be useful both when facing very strong underwater enemies, and to keep the weapon for a longer period, as it will take much fewer uses to defeat the enemies.
How to curse a Trident with an Enchanting Table
To enchant weapons, you can choose to create an Enchanting Table. The table can be created with the following recipe:
- 1 book
- 2 diamonds
- 4 obsidian blocks

As you can see in the image, the objects to be crafted must be placed as follows:
- First row: Book in the center.
- Second row: One diamond on each side, one obsidian block in the center.
- Third row: Three obsidian blocks.
Now that you have created the table, you need to have lapis lazuli ready to use, in addition to the Trident itself. In the upper block, place the Trident, and in the lower block, the lapis lazuli.

On the right, you will see three spells, among which may be the impaling enchantment. The enchantments that appear available are somewhat random, so it is not 100% certain that you will get the one you want, although fortunately, there are not many different ones to use with Trident.
Enchanting the Trident with its Book of Enchantment and an Anvil
There is another way to enchant a weapon. This one is to get the enchantment book we want (impaling enchantment, in this case) and use an anvil. If you do not know how to create an anvil, you can see how to do it in this other tutorial. From the anvil menu, you must place the Trident on the left and the impaling enchantment book on the right. The resulting object will be the Trident already enchanted.

The only problem with this method is finding the enchantment book. Enchanted books are found in chests, can be bought with emeralds from a villager, or obtained by fishing with a rod.
