App featuring educational movies on a range of subjects
BrainPOP is an app that features a collection of animated educational movies. They are related to a range of topics, often tie into current events, and rotate every day to reflect all kinds of news. It is a long-standing feature of the network and was started in 1999.
Hundreds of films on different topics
The system doesn't aim to offer rote learning but focuses on understanding concepts in a much more informal way at home or anywhere else. The movies usually feature recurring characters and the robot Moby and the teenage human Tim appear in most of them. They are the protagonists of the hundreds to be found on this app, which features a simple and user-friendly layout that makes browsing all the content easier. And to check what has been learned, there are quizzes where users are asked about what they have just watched.
