Turn your Android device into a counterfeit detector
The Counterfeit Money Detector app, as its name implies, lets us verify the authenticity of a banknote using our smartphone. It offers an ultraviolet light function and a function for checking security watermarks.
How to tell if a banknote is counterfeit with the help of your smartphone
This detector has two main tools: ultraviolet light and watermark detector. To use them, simply tap the option and place a banknote on the screen.
However, before you start using this application, you should know that it has been designed to work only with the currencies of Argentina, Colombia, Peru, and China. For this reason, its use is not recommended for euros, dollars, or Mexican pesos.
This app lets you see the little strands and similar security features of banknotes that can only be seen under ultraviolet light.
But how does it work? Banknotes contain some security features that are only visible under certain lights. One of them is ultraviolet light. And, although a smartphone cannot produce a strong enough light to analyze such watermarks, this app is optimized for viewing them in a dark environment.
However, the results must be read with great care, as this is not a professional tool. In other words, we can use this app for entertainment purposes only or to perform the usual checks we do when looking at banknotes against the light. However, by downloading the APK file, you will get an interesting database with information on banknotes from various countries around the world and their corresponding security measures.
