Google has developed applications for all fields. After making themselves famous thanks to their great search engine, the company has started to widen its scope and nowadays it offers users a good collection of great quality utilities like: Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, AdSense, Google Calendar... and of course, as it couldn't be otherwise, Google also offers its own instant messaging client.
Google's messaging client
Google Talk is an instant messaging and VoIP client developed by Google. It uses a free protocol, known as Jabber, that is based on the XML standard. To start using it all we require is a free Google account. As usual, to access the application you'll have to input your account name and password.
Chat from your desktop or from the web.
With Google Talk it's possible to hold conversations with your contacts from the application or from the email webpage, take part in video conferences, send messages to disconnected users, save your conversation history in your email account, customize your avatar and the chat window, voice calls, etc.
