Real time strategy in the Wild West
The fact that real-time strategy games, or RTS, can be perfectly transferred to the world of Android is something we already knew. Clash of Clans proves it. On this occasion, we find ourselves reviewing a game which, at first glance, seems less sophisticated. Regardless, you can be sure it will keep you glued to your Android for a good long while. And, there’s no denying it, it’s a game that has pleasantly surprised me despite its appearance.
Let me explain. When I first look at a game with graphics that transmit a certain childish aspect, I can’t help reacting in one of two ways: I either suppose it’s a game for kids or that it’s a game that has been poorly made. We can safely say that neither of these apply to Guns'n'Glory, which, after giving it a test run, has left us with the feeling that even the most veteran RTS players will like it; along with casual players and newbies.
Real time strategy perfectly adapted to mobile gaming.
There is something the game lets you know as soon as you start playing it: it’s going to be a rough ride. Not because it is particularly difficult to play (although the difficulty of advanced levels can cause a few headaches), but because playing it is extremely stressful. This may be the best mechanic adapted for an RTS that was originally designed for PC play.
Quite a special RTS for Android
One of the features of any self-respecting game of this genre is the gathering of resources. With these resources, you can create new units, construct new buildings or upgrade your troops and defenses. Normally, in order to get these resources, you have to order the avatars under your command to go to a specific location to collect them.
In this game, resources are obtained by attacking a range of targets, which the game puts in your way. This is how you get money; which you can then use to hire new bandits for your gang in each new scenario. Winning skirmishes also allows you to get additional gold.
