A social network with virtual avatars
The universe of social networks appears to be infinite and even going beyond planets like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you will find dozens and dozens and all kinds of alternative networks, where you can make new friends. IMVU is one of them and since it finds its inspiration in olden-day inventions such as Second Life, it allows you to create your own avatar and dive into a virtual 3D world.
Create your own avatar in your own image and likeness
Each user starts off by creating their own avatar, as in, for example, The Sims. Once you have designed your own image and likeness (or not), you will be able to explore a range of virtual scenarios and setting with exotic themes: travel to island paradises or attend parties at fancy mansions.
Either through these visits and events or through the search function, you will be able to find other users to follow and to chat with, thereby expanding your network of contacts. You can fill out your profile by telling others whatever you like or by posting photos you take of your adventures, just like on any other social network.
