Kentucky Route Zero is a harrowing adventure game developed by Cardboard Computer and published by Annapurna Interactive (a company known for the fantastic game "Stray" for PlayStation 5). Netflix offers its subscribers the full version of this drama originally released through chapters.
The story follows the travels of Conway, a truck driver who travels with an old dog to a mysterious location to make one last delivery for the antiquities company he works for. However, while searching for Kentucky's fictional Route Zero, his path will cross with strange characters who invite us to reflect on transcendental themes, such as life, regret, capitalism, and the ghosts of the past.
A very different kind of point-and-click game
Defining this game is complicated, as it is far too different from other games of the genre. Although it is a point-and-click game, its difficulty is practically zero. And here, there are no big puzzles or small missions, but a story that we can shape through our choices during conversations.
However, this does not mean that the game has different endings, as its plot is closed. Our decisions modify the script, letting us take an interest in other aspects and explore different themes.
Debts impossible to pay off. Abandoned futures. Mysterious travelers. Explore a secret subway highway in search of a community in this adventure game.
We can say that this is an excellent interactive drama full of melancholy and with spectacular artwork inspired by theater plays. Likewise, the designs mix the low poly style with vector design to create something totally different.
Although this surreal road adventure was released in several chapters over the years, Netflix users can now download this APK file to experience the complete story and enjoy it calmly on their mobile devices. This work of art made videogame has an approximate duration of eight hours, although we will remember its plot for years.
