Broadcast live video for your Twitter followers
A few years ago, an application became very trendy among Twitter users. It was Meerkat, a service that encouraged live video tweeting instead of text, with a very similar operation to Periscope, the service that Twitter bought and no longer works.
Click "Stream" and your video stream will appear in the feeds of your Twitter followers.
Main features
Live video streaming on Twitter with Meerkat was a very interesting possibility that could keep the user engaged in order not to miss a thing, as it did not allow the possibility of watching replays. Any user could live stream to all their followers, who had the option to interact with their comments thanks to these features:
- It enables live video streaming to all followers.
- Streams are sent to followers in real-time via push notifications.
- Followers can only watch the live broadcast. There are no recordings or replays.
- Viewers can retweet the broadcast.
However, we are speaking in the past tense at all times because this service, like Periscope, is no longer used. Meanwhile, we already know that Twitter is testing new features such as sending audio, video playback at different speeds, or live video between several users. So, it is likely that an option such as this will be available someday.
Requirements and additional information:
- Minimum operating system requirements: Android 4.3.
